True freedom is not "doing what you want to do"

It is the denial of sin. It is the freedom to become the person you were intended to be.

The spiritual battle of today is that we live in a world where sin is a moment away.

I am going to undertake a 90 day experiment in which I Raw Dog life.

No artificial stimulation, no substances, no negativity.

Will report back.

The fundamental question of all human existence is thus: "Do you die when you die?"

From there, every moral, philosophical, and metaphysical argument cascades.

This is why you must do the hard things consistently: the short term dopamine hits don't allow you to experience the sustained joy of creativity.

Stop consuming for a week and see.

Nobody talks about shifting the reward system away from consuming to creating.

Go on a dopamine detox and see how many creative thoughts you have. You will be overwhelmed.

With everyone saying "don't learn programming, AI will do it for you!"

I implore you to learn how to program.

Sometimes we have to go to the island to do the work so that we can come back an entirely changed person.

There are seasons in life, some which are more extraverted, some which are reflective and quiet.

Enjoy both. They lead into one another.

"What size of cappuccino would you like, sir?"

Uh, I want a cappuccino. There is only one size of that.

Energy begets energy. The more you do, the more you do.

"Rest" is a lie.

The more you try to "create yourself", the more you are creating an artificial construct.

The way to finding out who you truly are is complete surrender.

Ask a person who he is and he will 9 times out of 10 respond with his preferences rather than his principles.

Living with philosophical contradictions is soul sucking.

Being who you say you are is effortless.

Dashcams are a product of living in a low-trust society.

Creativity comes from boredom.

And most people are never bored in the current cyberpunk dystopia.

Hence, not very many people are creative.

There is a moment in programming where things start to click and you are building with the speed of thought.

I long for this moment every time I sit in front of a screen.

So many people play the game without even asking if the game is worth playing.

I remember thePrimegan talking about "not getting recursion"

I just had the ephipnany moment myself with nix and flakes.

"Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world ablaze"

Just make things a little better, a little more simple, a little cleaner everyday.

I think we need to bring back "thinking before speaking"

It is very easy to rapid fire off posts, but inevitably I am wrong far more often than if I thought about it before opening my digital mouth.

With LLMs, you can either say "do this for me" or "teach me how to do this"

The difference is drastic, and will dictate your trajectory infinitely.

When you hear the laugh of your child, all you were previously chasing seems to crumble away.

Being able to post to my own site and have all posts show up on Twitter/Mastodon is really nice.

Social media in my eyes is just distribution.

Switching from Hugo to Astro not because Hugo is lacking anything.

I just enjoy all my projects being built in a single stack and building out components for everything at once.

When you are writing in a text editor

Make every sentence a line.

Changes a ton about how you write.

If you make progress just for progress' sake

You will be doing things without asking if you should even be doing them in the first place.

"Because we can" is not a valid reason.

Kino.

Kino.

A major influence on "productivity"

is simply reducing friction.

Make everything easier that you actually want to do, and you start to do more of it.

Certain industries only exist because we live in a society entirely incapable of first principled thinking.

We are solving problems that shouldn't even exist.
