For the last six months or so, I have been using Hugo as my blogging platform of choice, switching over from a heavy NextJS site to one that is far more lightweight and focused on static files.
What I did not know is that Hugo plays very nicely with org-mode, so much so that all I have to do is change up the way my front-matter appears and name the post "post.org" instead of "post.md", and Hugo takes care of the rest.
This has increase quality of life so much that I now just write in my blog directory (in drafts), and when a post is ready to go, I change the #+DRAFT
flag from true to false, and the post goes live.
Now, my entire writing workflow is contained in org-mode, backed up to source control, and released on a schedule that is manageable. I have hundreds of unreleased posts that will be going out over 2025, so go subscribe to my RSS feed so you don't miss it!
The goal is to release 100 posts (I released 48 in 2024) and 100 videos this year, which is aspirational, but what is life without aspiration?
God bless, and until next time.
